Experiences

Jaevion has spent over ten years working on issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV and AIDS, human rights, youth participation, violence prevention and peace building, governance and development in Jamaica and through his involvement with a number of entities globally.

Through these experiences, he has honed his skills in the following areas:

    • Teaching, Workshop facilitation and coordination

    • Adjunct Lecturer at the Institute of Gender & Development Studies, University of the West Indies, Mona Campus since January 2019
    • Executive Director at J-FLAG since March 2018. Previous positions are Director, Projects & Strategy from October 2015 – February 2018 and Programme & Advocacy Manager from October 2010 – September 2015
    • Opinion Writer at The Gleaner Co. Ltd. since January 2013
    • Research Fellow at the Centre for Applied Human Rights (CAHR), University of York from April – July 2012
    • Lecturer in Caribbean Studies at the Convent of Mercy Academy – Alpha from September 2008 – June 2009
    • Programme Officer & Campaign Coordinator at the Violence Prevention Alliance (Centre for Criminology & Criminal Justice, UWI Mona) from January 2008 – March 2009
    • Junior Reporter at The Gleaner Co. Ltd. from July – Dec 2007
